Students
with disabilities are eligible to participate in courses specifically
designed for them. These courses provide the students with
appropriate options in order to balance their educational
program and meet identified needs as specified in their Individualized
Education Plan (IEP).
Learning
Disabilities Self-Contained Program
The
department provides intensive special education support in
all academic areas for self-contained learning disabled students
in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Most students are integrated into general education classes
for elective courses and physical education classes. Students
also participate in extra-curricular activities. The curriculum
in the Learning Disabilities Department follows the Program
of Studies for Fairfax County Public Schools.
