Happy Daze
What they're saying about "Happy Daze"
“There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.” (Douglas Adams)
Welcome to the life of J.T. Springer. Everyone knows him and for all the wrong reasons. He is our stereotypical nerd. His father runs his life. His mother gives new meaning to maternal. The love of his life doesn’t give a hoot about him and his depression is turning into anger without enthusiasm (that’s never a good sign).
It’s all in the Theatre Arts play this spring. Watch as our main character, J.T. Springer, gets “blindfolded and pushed into the minefield known as adolescence”. Soon afterwards he becomes a “50’s freak”. Though, in his imaginary retreat world he finds out that life is not so easy in the 1950’s Oakdale either.

6/7th Grade Theatre Arts is an introductory course where students learn about voice and some basic stage movement. Units include improvisation, radio plays, Greek theatre, and storytelling.
7th/French Theatre Arts combines language and culture in a unique elective. Students spend half of their time learning French language and then come to theatre to learn about mime, French stories which are presented in theatrical form, and plays from France.
8th Grade Theatre Arts is a semester course in which students of varying levels of drama experience work together to create an original piece for performance. Students use improvisation, creative writing, voice, and movement skills in addition to exploration of Theatre as means of communication.
Advanced Theatre Arts is a year long course in which students learn the basics of a Theatre production from start to finish. They begin with improvisation and move on to directing and design to perform 10 minute plays for an audience. In the spring they focus on auditioning and then prepare a full length production for a whole school performance. |
