TWELFTH NIGHT

Theatre Arts Appreciation(6, 7, 8) is an introductory semester course where students learn about voice and some basic stage movement.  Units include improvisation, radio plays, Greek theatre, and storytelling.

Speech and Theatre Arts(7, 8) is a semester course in which students of varying levels of drama experience work together to create an original piece for performance.  Students use improvisation, creative writing, voice, and movement skills in addition to exploration of Theatre as means of communication. Students perform a play for other classes as part of their final semester project.

Advanced Theatre Arts is a year long course in which students learn the basics of a Theatre production from start to finish.  They begin with improvisation and move on to directing and design to perform 10 minute plays for an audience.  In the spring they focus on auditioning and then prepare a full length production for a whole school performance.

Ms. Taylor has been the Theatre instructor at Glasgow Middle School since 2004.  She has a BFA degree in Theatre and English Education from Arizona State University and a MA in Literacy Education from George Mason University.  She has worked professionally as a community theatre teacher and stage manager.  She has acted on both the stage and in television.  While she is not working as a performer currently, she hopes to do so in the future because it gives her so much to bring back to the classroom.
