Summer

Summer is a time to make outdoor observations of our lawns and skies. Here are some things we will be observing, learning, and experimenting with during our last month of school:

  • Grasses and other lawn plants - Clover, Dandelions, Chickweed, and Moss. We will be making observations with hand lenses, making collections, and making data retrieval charts.
  • Parts of a Dandelion - Stigma, Anther With Pollen, Pappas, and Developing seeds.
  • Types of clouds - Stratus, Cumulus, and Cirrus

Fall

5 Senses -

The fall is a time for using our 5 senses. We use our 5 senses both indoors and out. This is the time of year for making observations about the change in seasons. Here are just a few ways we use our 5 senses during this season:

  • Observing fungi and mold
  • Adopting a class tree
  • Making tree observations
  • Learning the parts of a tree
  • Observing the changes a tree goes through
  • Learning the parts of a leaf
  • Making leaf observations and sorting them by edges, shapes and arrangements
