Library Team

The Freedom Hill Library has over 18,000 items for students, faculty, and parents to use for pleasure reading and research.  The library is open daily for checkout and for scheduled classes.  All Freedom Hill classes from Pre-School to 3th grade visit the library weekly and students in 4th - 6th grade visit the library bi-weekly.  There are planned activities for each class.  Literature appreciation is encouraged through read-alouds and storytelling as well as author and illustrator studies.  Library and research skills are encouraged through hands on practice and curriculum integration.

Virginia Young Reader Program
Freedom Hill is participating in the Virginia Young Reader program this year.  This is a program where the Virginia Reading Teacher Association selects 10 books for each reading level and students are encouraged to read them throughout the year.  In March, the students then vote on their favorite book.  Students only need to read 4 of the 10 to be allowed to vote. For a listing of the books on each level visit http://www.vsra.org/VRC.html
