TECHNOLOGICAL SYSTEMS
Inventions and Innovations
Grade 7 - Semester Course $15 Fee
Required
Inventions and Innovations is a course in which
students explore a wide variety of technologies and their "real world"
applications. Students complete Synergistic modules providing
self-directed learning of many technological applications, as well as
constructing solutions to engineering problems. Activities within the
classroom are hands-on and engaging to the students. Areas explored
include, but are not limited to, structural engineering, computer-aided
drafting, keyboarding skills, desktop publishing, aerodynamics and forces, and
material and processes. Some projects include bridges and CO2 powered
dragsters.
Technological Systems
Grade 8 - Semester Elective
$15 Fee Required
In this hands-on course, students use tools, machines, and
computers as they are challenged to construct models of solutions to a series of
"real-world" problems. Students also will complete Synergistic modules
providing self-directed learning of many technological applications. Areas
explored include, but are not limited to, aerospace engineering, computer-aided
drafting, desktop publishing, robotics, forces and stress, transportation, and
material and processes. Some project include rockets, magnetic levitation
vehicles, cantilever structures, and egg-crash cars. The course is open to
all eighth grade students, and no previous experienced is required.
