Inventions and Innovations
Grade 7 - Semester
Course $15 Fee Required

Inventions and Innovations is a course in which students explore a wide variety of technologies and their "real world" applications.  Students complete Synergistic modules providing self-directed learning of many technological applications, as well as constructing solutions to engineering problems.  Activities within the classroom are hands-on and engaging to the students.  Areas explored include, but are not limited to, structural engineering, computer-aided drafting, keyboarding skills, desktop publishing, aerodynamics and forces, and material and processes.  Some projects include bridges and CO2 powered dragsters.


Technological Systems
Grade 8 - Semester Elective $15 Fee Required

In this hands-on course, students use tools, machines, and computers as they are challenged to construct models of solutions to a series of "real-world" problems. Students also will complete Synergistic modules providing self-directed learning of many technological applications. Areas explored include, but are not limited to, aerospace engineering, computer-aided drafting, desktop publishing, robotics, forces and stress, transportation, and material and processes.  Some project include rockets, magnetic levitation vehicles, cantilever structures, and egg-crash cars.  The course is open to all eighth grade students, and no previous experienced is required.
