The Franklin Middle School Course Selections comply with the Fairfax
County Program of Studies and the requirements of the Virginia State Department of
Education.
All students are expected to be enrolled in a full-day eight
period program.
Consider your current interests and future goals when selecting courses
for next year. Plan carefully and talk with your parents/guardians, counselors, and teachers.
They can all help you make wise decisions about courses for next year.
Non-core classes
offer both an opportunity for enrichment and interest
exploration. Plan carefully for a selection of different
non-core courses during your two
years in middle school.
The courses listed include the course title, pertinent grade level(s),
duration of the class, and a brief synopsis of what each course will cover.
French I, Spanish I, and Algebra I are high school credit courses
offered in the eighth grade. Enrollment in these courses requires teacher recommendation.
Final grades will count toward high school graduation, grade point average
(GPA), and
class rank.
All offerings are subject to adequate enrollment and
staffing. If a course must be canceled, a substitute will be selected according to the
preference order numbered on the course selection sheet. In some cases, it may be
necessary to discuss the change with the student and parent(s)/guardian(s) involved.
