Grades 7 and 8

***Prerequisite - Audition by Band Director***
Franklin Middle School's band director,
will place rising seventh grade band students with one or two years of
experience in band. The director will set up audition schedules with the
elementary school directors. All eighth
grade students
will be auditioned for placement. There will be a band or an instrumental class available for
every student who wishes to begin instruction on any instrument, including
percussion. The band director will audition all students for proper
placement in the following bands or instrumental classes:
- Symphonic Band - Advanced Group
- Concert Band - Second-Year Band
- Cadet Band - Beginning Group
PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE
Grade 7 and 8
Full Year
This class is designed to develop students' tempo, rhythm, form, and technique. The class will improve the musical talents of percussion students for all levels of ability. All beginning students who are interested in learning to play a percussion instrument are encouraged to sign up for this class. All percussion students who are able to independently perform easy material will rehearse and perform with the Cadet and Concert Bands.
All bands and instrumental groups will perform in many concerts throughout the school year. Attendance at all concerts is mandatory.
