SEVENTH GRADE HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Full Year Required

The program for grade seven includes activities that strengthen skills developed at the elementary level. It emphasizes group and team-oriented participation using more highly organized lead-up activities, modified games, and regulation sports. Activities include ultimate football, soccer, team handball, basketball, weight training, rally volleyball, rally softball, badminton, table tennis, dance, lacrosse, track and field, and other recreational activities.  

Health instruction in grade seven includes the following units:  Skills of Health and Wellness; Injury Education and Violence Prevention; Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs; Human Growth and Development; Emotional and Social Health; Disease and the Human Body; and Nutrition.  After a review of all materials in the health curriculum, if desired, parents may opt their children out of part of the program.
