Franklin Band and Orchestra Camp June 25 – July 20, 2007 The Franklin Band and Orchestra Camp staff is preparing for our annual 19th music camp session, scheduled to begin on Monday June 25 at Franklin Middle School. Our staff will consist of over 20 band directors, orchestra directors, and private instructor to work with the 400 + students that will be attending the camp this summer. Parents unfamiliar with the band and orchestra camp, there are four periods each day for each of the four bands and four orchestras. (Beginning, Cadet, Concert, Symphonic). Each instructional hour consist of the following:
The strength of the camp is the master class where, for example, all trombones and violins will spend a full 45-60 minute period with a professional trombone or violin instructor, working only on trombone or violin fundamentals. The student, in effect, has a group private lesson every day!!
The camp is a great place for elementary beginners since they start each day with the instrumental specialist for their instrument. In just four weeks the beginners generally have progressed to the point that they can go into the advanced band or orchestra when they go to their elementary school. Please Note: The camp is equivalent to two years of the elementary student’s band /orchestra school experience. The camp is also a great place for advanced elementary and middle school students to continue their musical development skills in the master classes and full band/orchestra ensembles. Students attending the camp are prepared far ahead of other students at the start of the new school year. If you have any additional questions
concerning the camp, please email me at

Sincerely, Lawrence Walker
