PTA
The Franconia Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is about men and women working together toward a common goal. That goal is creating a better school and a better educational experience for our children. We strive to create an atmosphere where teachers and administrators can do their best work—and so can our children.
The PTA helps Franconia in many different ways. The past two years, we:
- Aided teachers by providing money to attend conferences and workshops.
- Improved school technology by purchasing three SMART boards for classrooms.
- Purchased new Physical Education equipment.
- Purchased Language Arts Assessment Kits
- Provided children without lunch money a sandwich, so that no one goes hungry.
- Helped to offset transportation costs for field trips.
With budget cuts affecting many areas of our school, we need your support to ensure we can continue providing new technology and supplies to our school. I encourage you to become a PTA member and support our fundraising activities throughout the year.
But that’s not the only reason to take part. There have been more than 500 independent research studies about parent involvement. When parents get involved in their children’s education, grades go up, test scores go up, children become more likely to pass, they have fewer discipline problems, and they’re less likely to use drugs and alcohol.
Volunteering doesn’t mean a huge time commitment. An hour or two a semester makes a big difference. And we have jobs to fit your time schedule and interests. Please fill out the accompanying volunteer form letting us know how you can help.
