Introduction
Welcome to a colonial venture. As you work
through this webquest you
will learn what colonial life was like.
The Task
As you do your research you will learn what colonial everyday life
was like and how it was different than your life today. You will
discover
why family life was so important in colonial times.
The Process
1. Read this excerpt from Building Thirteen Colonies by Joy Hakim.
2. Answer the questions on this
page. You may use print or internet
resources.
3. Print the Venn
Diagram page. Use it to show
how your life is
similar and also different from the life of a colonial child's.
4. Use paper and pencil or ClarisWorks to write a paragraph telling
about
the importance of family life in the colonial
period.
Evaluation
Student learning will be assessed by the quality of the student
work
submitted. There will be a question and answer sheet, a Venn Diagram
and a well written paragraph turned in for successful completion of the
project.
Conclusion
As students work on this project they will gain an important awareness
of the differences in colonial life and their own. They will be able
to express
different aspects of and the importance of family life during these times.
