We would like to welcome you to Fort Hunt Elementary School's Home Page. Fort Hunt is located 2.5 miles North of Mount Vernon and is built on land once owned by George Washington. Our students and staff enjoy our historic surroundings, and take advantage of them as often as possible to enrich the learning environment.

Fort Hunt Elementary is a Spanish Immersion school where Spanish is taught to students in grades first through sixth, through the math, science, and health curriculum. Participation in this program is optional. Applications are necessary and are accepted in the year preceding first grade. Children who reside outside of our boundaries are accepted through a lottery system.

Fort Hunt Elementary is also a Fine Arts Focus school. The arts are frequently integrated with all of the subjects taught and throughout all grade levels -- kindergarten through sixth grade. We have a partnership with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic. We also enjoy the benefits of being a Kennedy Center CETA (Changing Education Through the Arts) school.

"THE CLIMATE IS TERRIFIC AT FORT HUNT!"
