The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the slate for next year’s Officers of the PTA Executive Board.  Click on the headline to see the nominees, as well as a list of returning Officers.  The vote for this slate will be cast at the next General Membership Meeting on Friday, May 23, 9:15am in the Library.
Community Outreach Events for Special Olympics
The PTA Community Outreach Committee is sponsoring two upcoming events to benefit Special Olympics. A coin drive starts Monday, 4/28, and runs through Friday, 5/9. A jug for each grade level will be placed in the cafeteria for collection. A bake sale will be held during the Family Olympics on May 9th. Donated baked goods should be submitted by Noon on 5/9. Spring Spirit Sale Wednesday, April 30
Forestville Spirit items will be available for sale in the lobby during lunch hours (11:30-1:30) on Wednesday 4/30.

Thanks for your enthusiastic support of the many new items we showcased this year.  We always welcome new ideas for new products if you wish to pass it along.

Order your child’s supplies online at the Forestville Mall and have pre-packaged kits with your child’s name waiting in their classroom at Open House. Forestville Kindergarten Orientation
Forestville Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Monday, April 28, from 2 to 3 pm. This is a great opportunity for some of our staff members to meet you and your child and answer any questions you may have. For information on enrolling your child, please contact Huong Tran, registrar, at 703-404-6000. The Forestville Talent Show scouts are ready to bask in your talent. Just click on the headline to get a copy of the application which is due in to the front office by April 4. Screenings are on April 15. The 2008 Virginia School Census will begin on March 1st and end on July 15th. This census, which occurs every three years and is mandated by the commonwealth of Virginia, determines the fair distribution of state sales tax revenues throughout the state. The census counts every child through age nineteen (19) whether or not the child attends public or private school or is home-schooled. For each child counted between the ages of 5 and 19, approximately $3,000 will be returned to our schools. New Bell Schedule!
For the '07-'08 school year, the bell schedule for Tuesday through Friday is extended 5 minutes. Monday remains unchanged. The new schedule for Tuesday-Friday is:
First through Sixth Grades:
9:10 AM - 3:50 PM
Afternoon Kindergarten:
12:30 PM - 3:50 PM

The Parent View account gives parents the opportunity to view all of their childrens’ homework and other assignments online.  Parent accounts will also give parents access to other important features like weCare@schools.  weCare@schools is the online system that allows parents to submit emergency care information for their children online. Fairfax County Public schools has partnered with Microsoft to participate in a program that will enable students, staff members, and Adult and Community Education students to purchase Microsoft software titles at discounted prices.Purchases will be made through a fulfillment partner, Journey Education Marketing (also known as Journey Ed).
