Third grade is an exciting year for students as they continue to learn the aspects of a good reader and learn to become authors, historians of ancient civilizations, scientists, and better mathematicians. As historians the students will explore the ancient civilizations of Egypt, China, Greece, and Rome. As a scientist the students will use the scientific process to discover simple machines, rotation and revolution, rocks and minerals, and the life cycle of a butterfly. As mathematicians the students will be able to multiply, divide, identify fractions, convert fractions into decimals, and more. The Third Grade Team consists of three classes. All three classes plan together so there is consistency in the learning of the children. Students are grouped based on abilities and needs for math instruction. Third grade spends recess together to promote community with others not in their class.
