PE Reading

Sixth grade is an exciting year for students as it marks the culmination of elementary school. Students tackle a challenging curriculum as they prepare to enter middle school. Language Arts includes a reading and writing workshop where students read novels, poetry, and nonfiction and draft, revise and edit their writing. During math, students are flexibly grouped to learn beginning algebra, geometry, statistics and probability, and number sense. Social Studies covers United States History up to the Reconstruction period. In Science, sixth graders study Astronomy, Patterns of Weather, Liquids, and Energy. One of the highlights of the year is a trip to Philadelphia to visit a number of historical sites. Your child's teachers have placed customized information on the Sixth Grade 24-7 Learning site.
