Dear Floris Families,

Thank you so much for attending your child’s parent/teacher conference.  Many of our teachers have commented on how productive they were.  It is so important to maintain a positive home/school connection.  We truly value your input and observations.  With conferences behind us, it means that our first quarter has ended!  Teachers have been carefully monitoring students’ progress – they continue to grow and learn each week.  Please note that progress reports will be sent home with your child on Tuesday, November 10th.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

Our students and families enjoyed many fun activities during October.  We saw a huge reptile named Banana during our assembly with Mr. Michael from Reptile World.  We also enjoyed the two homecoming parades of our neighboring high schools – South Lakes and Westfield.  Our Fall Ball was well-attended and all of our students enjoyed our annual Harvest Parade. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive staff and parent community.

We had a terrific turnout at our first Principal’s Coffee at Judy Nally’s home.  The topic was our Intervention and Enrichment program at Floris.  We had a great discussion and I believe parents walked away with a better understanding of the goals of the program and how it impacts their child.  Please try to attend our next coffee which will be held in January.  I really enjoy getting to know our parents.
Looking ahead, we hope to see you on Veteran’s Day as once again, our second grade classes perform patriotic songs for students and families on November 11th at 2:00.  We are also looking forward to time with family as we celebrate our Thanksgiving holiday.  Please note that we will release students two hours early on Wednesday, November 25th.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Gail Porter     Richard Rosser
