- PAWS is short for Performance Activities With Students.
- PAWS is a rotational period in which students receive extra academic support, remediation, tutoring, and/or enrichment.
- Student attendance for PAWS is mandatory and should be treated with the same guidelines of the school's attendance policy as regular classes.
- Teachers determine the kinds of Privileges that their students receive during PAWS.
- Students must meet the following criteria in order to receive Privileges:
- Must be on the A/B honor roll on their current interim or quarterly report card.
- Must have achieved at least 80% proficiency in their core SOL strands.
- Must have no unexcused absences or no more than 2 unexcused tardies in the current quarter.
- Must have all of their work up-to-date.
- Must exhibit behavior that is acceptable in the learning environment.
- The classroom teacher has the final word on who gets Privileges and who does not.
- During Privileges students may not wear hats, listen to portable music devices, talk on cell phones or behave in a manner contrary to the Students Responsibilities and Rights.
