Program Overview
Parent liaisons are Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) employees who represent a variety of cultures, languages, and races. They are hired to enhance communication and interaction between the home and the school for the purpose of increasing student achievement.
Parent liaisons help parents understand how they can become more involved in their children's education and help school personnel understand more about home cultures through the following:
- Orienting families to FCPS and the culture of the school system.
- Facilitating intercultural understanding and respect in the school and community.
- Linking families to school professionals.
- Educating parents to understand ways in which the family can assist student achievement.
- Involving families that do not traditionally take part in school activities and events.
Mission
The Mission of the Falls Church High School Parent Liaison is to establish and build a successful working relationship between Falls Church High School and student families for the benefit of the students, families, and schools.
Vision
The Vision of the Falls Church High School Parent Liaison is that students, families, and Falls Church High School may work together through an appreciation of cultural diversity to increase the overall student achievement.
