Program Overview

The Falls Church High School Business & Information Technology program provides its students with an intensive SOL-backed business and IT curriculum that intends to provide preparation for both the workforce as well as post-secondary study.

Students have the option of selecting from a diverse group of courses which include both traditional business curriculum and more intense information technology studies. Courses reflect real-word applications in finance, law, management, information technology, web development, and computer programming.

The Falls Church High School Business & Information program also provides several industry certification preparation courses and serves as a testing center for the Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Suite and the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) tests. Under current guidelines, students that qualify for a specific industry certification test may get that test paid provided for free. Additional tests make be completed upon request and for a small fee. The purpose of the certification opportunity is to help student validate their technical skills in order to make them more competent as well as marketable at the workplace and at post-secondary institutions.

The Mission of the Falls Church High School Business program is to increase the value of student learning experiences by applying core academic skills in realistic as well as relevant business settings.

Vision

The Vision of the Falls Church High School Business Program is to increase:

1. Awareness of business situations for which our day to day existence as citizens within the global society is influenced.

2. Relevance with regard to the correlation between core academics and Business related careers, specific job-related tasks, education, and personal situations.

3. Understanding of business topics in order to prepare individuals for successful development of solutions for enhancing careers, specific job-related tasks, education, and personal situations.
