AVID College Scholarship Award
This year the FCHS AVID site team is proud to announce our third annual AVID College Scholarship Award . We are proud to announce that we are able to award two scholarships for the graduating AVID senior class. Our first award is a scholarship in the amount of $1500 to be given in two increments: $750 freshman year and $750 sophomore year. Our second place award will be a $500 scholarship to be given in freshman year. These awards will be granted to outstanding seniors who meet and/or exceed the following criteria:
• 2.70 cumulative GPA or above at the conclusion of first semester senior year.
• Response to a given writing prompt exploring the influence of AVID on his/her college readiness and personal definition of “success.” The essays will be evaluated by a panel of AVID core teachers.
• One teacher recommendation (recommendation forms will be provided to all those who are eligible)
• Possible interview component (AVID teachers)
This $1500 AVID College Scholarship Award will be given in two $750 increments. The second award of $500 will be presented in one sum in the freshman year. All money will be deposited directly into college accounts. The monies will be awarded upon freshman enrollment at the institution of the student's choice (official acceptance letter must be provided). The second installment of the $1500 scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the student's sophomore year.
