Program Overview
Automotive Technology Education offers students the opportunity to study a variety of professional courses developed and implemented from today's leading industries. Industry-recognized certifications and licensure, internships, and college credit exist for many students. Classroom experiences are enhanced through high-tech lab activities that accentuate self-direction, productivity, and professionalism while challenging students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, and life-long learners.
Certifications and available licensures include: Automotive Technology (Automotive Service Excellence - ASE) and Auto Body (ASE).
Mission
The Automotive Technology program at Falls Church High School prepares all students to be competent in four out of eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards: Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electricity/ Electronics, Engine performance. Through daily hands on tasks, computer diagnostic modules, individual learning stations, live and learning interactive demonstrations, professional responsibilities, tools knowledge and shop safety training, communication with customers and customer service and text book vocabulary knowledge, students will attain the necessary skills to make educated decisions about post secondary options which include but are not limited to 1 or more of the following: Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s degree, Automotive Technical/ trade school and/ or immediate job placement.
Vision
The Automotive Technology program at Falls Church High School strives to prepare students to be certified in four out of eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) areas: Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electricity/ Electronics, Engine performance. Students will pass industry standards exams or certifications and will become competent in the areas covered according to NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) guidelines. Those areas will include but not limit to Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electricity/ Electronic, and Engine Performance.
We strive to prepare students to be highly marketable and competent in the work place for top salary and benefits as an Automotive Technician.
