Program Overview

The Falls Church High School Library program supports the mission and vision of Falls Church High School and Fairfax County Public Schools. The library works to accomplish this by providing services to students and staff, as well as materials and access to information in support of the curriculum. It assists students and staff in becoming effective users of ideas and information, and encourages students to become life-long readers with a love of learning. The Falls Church High School library recognizes that students face increasing cultural and linguistic diversity and burgeoning technical access to huge quantities of information. The library strives to provide resources and opportunities for all students to attain literacy, locate and evaluate information both electronically and in print, develop critical thinking skills, acquire knowledge, and enjoy the learning necessary to meet the challenges of today’s world.

Mission

The mission of the library is to be an integral part of the instructional program at Falls Church High School, dedicated to providing our school community with the best possible resources and services.

Vision

Our vision is to promote active learning by assisting students to access, evaluate, and utilize information. The library staff emphasizes to students the importance of ethical conduct in a world increasingly dependent on information technology, and the obligation to develop high standards of academic behavior.
