Meet Our Counselor

Greetings to all parents and students. My name is Andrew Mitchell, and I am the School Counselor at Fairhill Elementary. My job has three very important components:

1. First of all, my job is to help students resolve any sort of problem that might be interfering with their academics. This could be issues here at school...or issues happening at home or somewhere else. These may be small issues such as a child whose feelings are hurt...or a large issue such as a child whose parents are separating or becoming divorced. My job is to help the students with these issues so they can focus more of their attention on their class work...and less attention on these other distractions.

2. Another important part of my job is to develop and organize, with the help of others, our school's character education program. Our goal is to produce educated children with great character. Each month, we have a new character trait such as being honest, responsible, polite, patient, etc. We encourage the students to exhibit these character traits and see that having good character is a part of having a good quality education.

3. My final piece at our school is to provide assitance to parents...and to answer any questions they might have regarding their children. Common questions include behavior problems at home, discipline, organization, school questions, etc. Any question you have...I'll do my best to answer.

So please don't ever hesitate to contact me at the school for any question you might have. If I do not know the answer, I'm sure I can direct you to the person who can.
