FAIRFAX VILLA SAFETY PATROL

Duties:
5th and 6th graders make up our safety patrol group. This is an important position to ensure the safety of all students. Each safety patrol while on duty will be wearing a yellow safety belt. While on duty, safety patrols will be helping students cross our streets safely on their way to and from school, courteously open doors for parents and students coming into or leaving the building, help children become safe pedestrians, and promote the qualities of a leader. Our Safety Patrol also puts the flag up and down each day and helps the kindergarten kids walk to their buses. Other duties or regulations of the school safety patrol include.

Other duties or regulations of the school safety patrol include.

  • Report to designated post on time
  • Perform all duties faithfully
  • Make every effort to prevent accidents
  • Set a good example
  • Obey all teachers and patrol officers
  • Report any dangerous student behavior immediately
  • Do your best to earn the respect of peers

Rewards:
On days when the temperature drops below freezing street safety patrols will find hot chocolate waiting for them in the kitchen when they come to school. At the last meeting in June, every patrol who has fulfilled his/her responsibilities during the year is invited to a pizza party.

How to become a School Safety Patrol:
Selection of patrols is held in the spring. Teachers nominate candidates from those who apply. Decisions are based on grades, leadership, ability to assume responsibility and geographic location. All patrols must maintain a C or better for achievement and a G or better for effort in all classes to become a patrol and continue throughout the year as a patrol
