Second Quarter Plans

Kindergarten

  • Glazing their ceramic pinch pots
  • Weaving paper strips to create a placemat
  • Drawing a self-portrait with a family member
  • Assembling a face using found objects and then drawing it
  • Printing patterns and overlapping papers while learning about Jasper Johns’ Three Flags
First Grade
  • Drawing a turkey with texture while learning about artist Albrect Durer
  • Sculpting a pinch pot out of clay and glazing it
  • Weaving paper strips to create a placemat
  • Cutting out evergreen and deciduous trees to create a mural
Second Grade
  • Creating a cut paper dancer from a specific culture
  • Sculpting paper and clay beads to barter
  • Drawing a cricket from all points of view like a medical illustrator
  • Using paper cutting and folding skills to create a 3-dimentional cricket sculpture
  • Chinese brush painting of implied crickets using bamboo brushes and watercolor
Third Grade
  • Creating a metal repose of an Egyptian sarcophagus
  • Creating a personal Egyptian cartouche out of clay
  • Sculpting a Greek drama mask using 3-dimensional cut paper techniques
  • Designing a personal entrance way using columns and a pediment
Fourth Grade
  • Creating a wire sculpture of a human figure in proportion
  • Using cut paper collage techniques to create a region of Virginia
  • Sculpting a clay pot using coils and glazing it
Fifth Grade
  • Learning about Sumerian Art and using pen to construct a textured drawing of a human figure with a head in profile
  • Creating a non-objective piece of artwork using watercolor techniques, pen and ink, measuring, and visual textures
Sixth Grade
  • Creating a scratchboard of a mythological creature using hatching and crosshatching
  • Drawing African Masks using oil pastels and many pastel techniques
  • Sculpting a personal figure from ceramic clay influenced by Pueblo storytellers

Things to save and donate: these can be dropped off in room 22 or in the office...

Old T-shirts for paint smocks (short sleeve button-down work the best), and clean glass baby food jars with no lids.
