HUMAN RELATIONS COMMITTEE
MINUTES for October 2, 2008

Members in attendance:
Lisa Kettell, Nancy Ito, Betty Sisler, Nicole Lee, Kathy Eiserman, Linda Clifford

Review broad purpose of the committee:
Our main goal is to ensure that everyone at the Villa feels respected and safe. We address concerns regarding those issues from faculty, students, parents, and community members.

Discuss future meetings when no agenda items are on the table:
The committee agreed that no meeting will be held if no specific topics of discussion have been presented. The agenda will be posted one week in advance of the meeting day as a reminder to submit suggestions and/or concerns.

Who can submit topics for discussion and how is it done?
Any member of the Fairfax Villa family and surrounding community can submit suggestions to the committee. Ideas may be placed anonymously in the comment box, which is located in the cafeteria, or emailed to Lisa.Kettell@fcps.edu.

How will students know that they can make suggestions?
Mrs. Clifford will explain the purpose of the comment box to students in the cafeteria during the week of October 6-10.

How will we advertise our meetings to the community?
We will continue to advertise our meetings in the Villa Voice and on our school website.

How will minutes be shared?
Minutes of the meetings will be e-mailed to members in attendance for approval and then posted on Staff News and the HR Website.

The next meeting is scheduled for November 6, 2008 at 8:30 am in the school library. All are welcome to attend.
