April is the Month of the Military Child

From deployments to new schools, military children are faced with unique challenges that ordinary youth their age never experience. Their ability to adapt to present and future changes deserves respect and admiration. In an effort to recognize the hard work and applaud the courage of military children, the DoD deemed April as the Month of the Military Child (MOMC).

6th Grade Showcase Update

Many of you know that, in years past, the two classes of Fairfax Villa 6th grade students participated in a musical that delighted the entire student body and community. Many Monday afternoon hours after the early-release time were dedicated to rehearsals for many weeks.

Last year, faced with the challenges of not having the Monday afternoons for practice and  the increased population of 6th grade students resulting in an additional 6th grade class, our staff looked for a different way to showcase the talents of our students within the new confines we were dealt.  With less time for preparation and more students to involve, we started a new tradition: the 6th Grade Showcase! This new presentation featured student talents and strengths and allowed for flexibility within the final performance. We are proud to once again this year feature our 6th graders in a fun, entertaining, and unique bonding experience that will be a part of their special Villa memories. We look forward to continuing our new Villa tradition for the next 50 years!
