Welcome to Fairfax Villa!

The Princess and the Pea

We are excited to have a small cast from the Virginia Opera Association perform the Princess and the Pea for our 3rd-6th grade students on Tuesday, March 10th. The performance will begin promptly at 9:20. It is about 45 minutes long and will be followed by a 15 minute talk back with the performers! We would like to thank the Woodland Retirement Community for sponsoring the show.

The fifth grade is selling mustaches for a spirit day fundraiser. They are raising money to support their field trip to the Baltimore Aquarium and Maryland Science Center. Mustaches cost $2.00 for a package of three and students may wear them on Tuesday, March 17th for our spirit day. Order forms were sent home in the Tuesday Packets and will be accepted until Friday, March 13th. Students wishing to order may bring cash or checks made payable to Fairfax Villa. We hope that everyone will support our fifth grade students.

Grade 3 Musical Program

We are excited to announce that our 3rd grade classes will be presenting a special musical program this year! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 12th! On that day at 7pm, we will be presenting a program of traditional singing games, dances, and play parties that we have been learning in general music. We hope to see you there!

We are excited to announce that our school has purchased Dreambox accounts that students can use at school or at home. Students in grades 1-6 will be accessing Dreambox here at school and can also use it at home; students in kindergarten will have it for home use only.

What is Dreambox? DreamBox is a rigorous math curriculum that students access online.  It adapts to meet each student’s educational needs while playing within the program in an engaging learning environment on a desktop computer, laptop or iPad.

Click the following links to read more (in English and Spanish) about Dreambox and how parents can access Dreambox and set up their own parent account. If you have any questions about how your student should log in to Dreambox, please contact your child's teacher.

Our kindergarten and first grade students are again participating in the Activate cognitive training program. If you were not able to attend the parent information meeting in January, here is the overview information presented.

SIS Parent Accounts

As part of the Woodson Pyramid, Fairfax Villa is participating in a pilot program that is providing parent accounts for our FCPS Student Information System (SIS). Each parent will receive a letter in the mail providing a web address, activation key and directions for registering for your account. These letters should arrive by the middle of November. You do not have to come to the school to set up this account.

As another form of communication between parents and Fairfax Villa, this account will enable you to view your student's attendance, report card grades and other information. Click here to view a video about setting up your account and what you will see through the Parent SIS account. Please be aware that there are aspects in the video of what is shown for middle and high school students that are not in the elementary school view.
