Washington as a Farmer painting
Produced in partnership with George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens, this 30-minute program will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about George Washington as a farmer and a businessman.

Students will also learn about how a farm works; how farm resources are managed; how the foods we eat are produced; and how simple machinery works.  In addition, the program will provide students with information about the operation of a water-powered gristmill, the jobs that exist at a farm and mill, and the importance of animals to farming.

A teacher manual is available. The manual has background information and includes instructional ideas to use before and after viewing the program. To receive the manual via U.S. Mail, please click here.
