The first in a series of four programs, Inspired to Fly introduced the principles and practices of early powered flight. From boomerangs to hot air balloons, from boxed kites to the Wright Flyer, the story of aviation is rich and varied.

Program highlights include an extended look of the Wright Flyer and an explanation of wing-warping, pioneered by Orville and Wilbur Wright. The role of aircraft during World War One is also discussed, along with barnstormers, and the record-breaking travels of Wiley Post. Special segments include Aviation Connection, where students are introduced to key principles of flight, and Professional Profile about the men and women who continue a tradition of flying faster and farther then ever before.
