World Language Credit by Examination Program

Students in grades 7-12 may earn credit in their native language by demonstrating proficiency on a language exam. To be eligible to take the exam, the student must have experience outside of school with a language other than English. Also, students must not already have two or more credits in that language on their transcript nor be enrolled in an FCPS course in that language. Students who are interested in taking the exam should talk with their counselor or ESOL teacher. The exam is offered once a year. For additional information, Click Here

SAT Tests

FHS is offering the SAT in October and May. Students may sign up to take the SAT at Fairfax High School or at another location if they wish to take the test on a different date. Most four year colleges require either an SAT or ACT score for admissions. To register to take the SAT or see the dates that it is offered, visit: Click Here

FHS Contact: Anna Weaver

SOL Exam Information

Students pursuing a standard, advanced, or modified diploma are required to pass SOL exams to satisfy graduation requirements. Counselors track SOL requirements and can provide students and parents with a summary of SOL requirements satisfied upon request. Information about SOL testing dates will be updated regularly; however, parents and students can find more information about SOL tests including materials to prepare for SOL exams at:

Testing Accommodations for Students with an IEP

Any student with an IEP who plans to take the SAT, PSAT, ACT, or AP exam and needs accommodations in accordance with his or her Individualized Education Plan (IEP), should alert the special education case manager or department chair prior to the exam. The College Boards determines the deadlines that all paperwork must be submitted to be considered to test with accommodations. The deadlines can be found by visiting: Click Here

The school’s SSD coordinator will work with families to fill out the paperwork and provide the necessary documentation to access accommodations.
