National Art Honor Society Art Club
NAHS (National Art honor Society) was founded in the early 70's to recognize excellence in student Art. We try to promote art in our school and community. We have two groups and it is our fifth year at Fairfax . One group includes Photography students and one group includes Art students.  Art students meet with Ms. Schreffler and Photo students meet with Ms. Washburn.  We have a joint induction ceremony in the spring. Our Chapter number is 1173. Students are required to do community service hours relating to art at Fairfax , be of good character and maintain a high GPA.

Brothers & Sisters United works to promote cultural diversity and cultural awareness throughout Fairfax High School and serves to provide intellectual, academic and emotional support for African American students.

The organization also strives to create an atmosphere where African American students can engage in critical dialogue on issues that impact the Fairfax High School community.

Dance Team

The FHS Varsity Dance Team is a full year commitment with three seasons. Practices begin in mid-August to prepare for the fall football season. During the school year, the team practices 3 days a week: Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturday mornings. During the Fall Season, the team performs at all the home varsity football games, the Fall Pep Rally, and generally compete in one or two competitions. During the Winter Season, the team performs at all the home men's varsity basketball games, the Student/Faculty basketball game, and the Winter Pep Rally. The spring season offers one or more opportunities to compete and to perform at other performance venues, such as the Spring Pep Rally, Talent Show, Kings Dominion Competition, etc. Visit our website under the FHS Athletics Page for more information.

Debate Team
Compete against other school in student congress and Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Deca is a co-curricular Marketing organization for High School students. It allows students to showcase competencies that are learned within their marketing classes. Examples are: Marketing Research Projects, Entrepreneurship Business Plans, Civc Consciousness and Earn Projects. The Role Play events are designed to test knowledge of Customer Service, Job Interview, Selling, Marketing Management, Retail Merchandising and Product Placement scenarios. Leadership Training is an important part of Deca and academies are designed to prepare students for leadership roles in their existing chapters or future Marketing and Management classes at the college level.

Scholarships are offered through a variety of sources such as national corporate sponsors, the Virginia DECA Foundation and local advisory boards throughout the state of Virginia. Special events are conducted such as: a Fairfax County golf tournament to support the scholarship fund for students majoring in Marketing, Management and related subject areas in college or technical schools.

The It's Academic! team competes with different schools in mini competitions to prepare for hte big district and regional meets.

International Thespian Society ITS is the offical national honors' society for the theatre students. Its nation-wide membership is base on official points gained through participation in produtions. If ou serve on wardrobe, as a carpenter, in the chorus, as a lead, or any other rold taht makes its way into the program, you will be on your way to becoming a member. ITS membership looks great on college applications, and can even earn you a Theatre Legger for a letter jacket. That State ITS Conference is a great place to attend theatre worshops and meet other ITS members from high schools across Virginia. At our formal Awards Banquet in May, new ITS members are inducted during a candlelit ceremony.
