Visitors are always welcome!

The Career Center is a service of the Fairfax High School Student Services Department. It is a multimedia resource center designed to help students with all aspects of career decision-making. Students will find information relating to both occupational and educational opportunities after high school. They are encouraged to use the computers in the Career Center to research these subjects through programs such as Choices and CX Online. Full internet access is available as well.

This information is supplemented by:

  • catalogs and information files from over 800 colleges, universities, graduate schools and private career schools;

  • information on military opportunities, study abroad, and summer programs;

  • registration forms for ACT, SAT and TOEFL;

  • college and financial aid applications;

  • an extensive video and CD collection;

  • a comprehensive library of materials related to occupational information and work skills; and

  • the Job Bank, a listing of part-time jobs, both paid and volunteer, open to local teenagers.

This internet site is yet another resource for students. It mirrors and expands the scope of information found in the Career Center and gives students almost limitless access to materials critical to their decision making.

In spite of the advances in technology which have occurred over the past few years, people are our most valuable resource. Over 80 college admissions representatives visit Fairfax H.S. each year to meet with students and offer information about their schools. Military recruiters are available the 3rd Tuesday of every month during all lunches.. Finally, an experienced volunteer Career Center staff rounds out the list of community resources available to students.

It is the intention of the Guidance staff, working with teachers, parents, and the community, to equip students with the skills they need to make informed decisions about their future. In a very real sense that is what the Career Center is all about.
