Professional Musical Theatre & Actor's Studio
2 credit course. One year course offered as Professional Musical Theatre and Actor’s Studio 1, with option to continue for a second year in Professional Musical Theatre and Actor’s Studio 2.
Professional Musical Theatre and Actor’s Studio is a course uniquely aimed at those interested in pursuing the performing arts at the university level and as a possible profession. The class is taught in four units: Acting (stage and film), Vocal Performance/Theory, Dance/ Movement, and “Business Insights for the Working Actor.” The program goal is to help each performer establish awareness of his/her strengths and then develop the ability to self-evaluate individual techniques in the three most marketable theatre skills/disciplines.
Prerequisites
Level 1 recommended for students with little or no experience in the performance arts.
Level 2 recommended for students with Middle School or High School performance experience.
Level 3 recommended for the serious theater arts student already involved in performance venues both in their current school setting and in the broader theater arts community.
Audition Guidelines
After submitting an Academy Application, students schedule a spring audition and perform the following:
Level 1 - 1 minute memorized monologue from a play, musical or other written source. (No film monologues) PLUS 16 bars from a Musical, memorized, with sheet music written in student’s key.
Level 2 - Two separate 1 minute memorized monologues -- one comedic and one dramatic -- from a play, musical or other written source. (No film monologues) PLUS 32 bars of a ballad from a Musical, memorized, with sheet music written in student’s key.
Level 3 - Timed 3 minute Audition Package. Student will have 3 minutes to demonstrate acting, singing, & dancing ability (using memorized monologue and song package, with separate dance number). Please bring sheet music written in student’s key.

Instructor's Bio:
Mr. Replogle has worked professionally for 28 years in film, stage, television and radio. His credits include NBC, ABC, Tri-star Pictures, Pipeline, and A. Shane Productions. Stage credits include regional theatres such as The Kennedy Center, Mill Mountain, MacHaydn, Signature, Roundhouse, American Century, Keegan Theatre and two national tours.
He has also worked on over 30 books on tape for Potomac Talking Books/The Cutting Corporation. Mr. Replogle has served as Artistic and Program Director for several theatres and programs in the Washington, D.C. area, most notably for Roundhouse Summer Teen Institute and Adventure Theatre. He serves as Founding Artistic Director for the City of Fairfax Theatre Company, opening its first production in the summer of 2009. He has directed over 70 professional and community theatre productions in his career.
Mr. Replogle studied at Uta Hagen’s HB Studio and Colliers in New York City and with Pat Sheppard in Los Angeles.
