The Parent Liaisons, Part of the Student
Services Department:
• Promote parent involvement in school
activities and academic endeavors.
• Ensure that parents and guardians have access to
the information and assistance they
need to enhance their student’s success in school.
• Facilitate intercultural understanding and respect
in the school and community.
• Link families to school professionals.
• Empower parents to be leaders in the school.

Susan Clark grew up in Alexandria and received a BA
in Spanish from Lake Forest College in Illinois and
a Graduate Certificate in Fund Raising from George Washington
University. She has been parent liaison at Edison since
2002. Before that she was a federal employee, life coach,
fund raiser, and artist representative. She lives with
her husband, Roger, two cats and a dog, and enjoys walking,
jogging, swimming, bicycling, doing yoga, cooking vegetarian
meals, and being a wellness consultant. Her daughter,
Katie, graduated from Edison as valedictorian in 2006. |

Luisa

Luisa Espinoza was born and raised in Venezuela
and came to the United States in 1980. She was the volunteer
coordinator of the Edison High School Padres Latinos
for three years and a Career Center volunteer for two
years. In May 2006, she joined the staff as Parent Liaison.
Her son, Luis Carrillo, graduated from Edison in 2006.
She owns a professional cleaning business and enjoys
walking, dancing, listening to music, cooking, traveling,
being with her family, collecting old-fashioned jewelry,
gardening, and helping people.
Luisa Espinoza nació en Venezuela y vino a los
Estados Unidos en 1980. Ella fue la coordinadora voluntaria
de los padres latinos de la Escuela Secundaria Edison
por tres años y voluntaria en el Centro de Carreras
por dos años. En mayo de 2006, fue empleada como
“parent liaison” (enlace con la comunidad).
Su hijo, Luís Carrillo, se graduó de Edison
en 2006. Tiene su propio negocio de limpieza y le gusta
caminar, bailar, escuchar música, cocinar, viajar,
estar con su familia, coleccionar joyas antiguas, plantar
flores, y ayudar a la gente.
