Health and Physical Education
Mission Statement
Regular physical activity contributes to good health, function,
learning, and well-being, and is important throughout a person's
lifetime. A quality Health and Physical Education program
seeks to develop affective, cognitive, and behavioral components
for all students, regardless of gender, age, disability, or
any other factor. We aim to provide students of all ability
levels the opportunity to discover fun and enjoyable physical
activities that they will want to participate in for a lifetime. Our
primary goals are to motivate students to want to improve
their cardiovascular fitness and overall health, allow them
to recognize the benefits of developing and participating
in a personal fitness program, and help them attain the knowledge
and skills they will need to make healthy decisions. The
staff will continue to seek improvements for students and
the school community overall. Through this work, students
will soon benefit from a high tech fitness lab that will allow
them to assess and monitor fitness programs by analyzing empirical
data. Students will also more readily recognize the relationship
of health and physical fitness to other aspects of life,
as well as many related health and fitness career options.
