Oracle Course Description

What is Oracle?
Oracle is the largest vendor of database systems in the world with the largest market share for both MS-Windows and Unix based databases. Oracle is also the second largest independent software company in the world. All 10 of the world's largest Web sites- from Amazon.com to Yahoo! - use Oracle.
Oracle Level 1 SQL Course Description
Students learn to analyze complex business scenarios and create a data model, a conceptual representation of an organizations information. Students implement their database design (data model) by creating a physical database using SQL, the industry-standard database programming language. Internships may be available for students who excel in this course.
Oracle Level 2 PL/SQL Course Description
The PL/SQL course covers PL/SQL, a procedural language extension to SQL. Through an innovative project-based approach, students learn procedural logic constructs such as variables, constants, conditional statements and iterative controls. Students have the opportunity to sit for the second of two exams required to earn
the Oracle Certified Associate certification.
Oracle Curriculum Overview

Certification/Verified Credits
These classes prepare students to pass the Oracle SQL and Oracle PL/SQL exams. Students that pass an exam receive 1 verified credit. An Alum in the Spotlight - David Magnotti
I applied at the new Microsoft Store, thinking that being hired was a longshot. But, with the Microsoft certifications I achieved in high school through my business and information technology classes, including Edison Academy, I was able to catch the attention of Microsoft's HR department and get hired. Edison Academy not only has provided me with invaluable knowledge, but it's also given me something to quantify my knowledge to get ahead in my career field. The certifications I earned in high school include Adobe Certified Associate, Microsoft Office Specialist, Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Specialist, Microsoft Certified System Administrator, CompTIA A+ Certified IT Technician, Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate. I have been studying at Northern Virginia Community College as a full-time student, and have plans to graduate in 2013 with a Computer Science's associates degree and transfer to a four year university.
