Only One Pre-Retirement Workshop Remaining in the Current School Year -- Register Now!
ERFC hosts Pre-Retirement workshops throughout the school year, but only one session remains open for the 2009-2010 schedule. If you’re planning to retire within the next two years, you’ll want to learn more about the specific provisions of the ERFC and VRS retirement plans, as well as the services available to help you determine your own “right time” to retire.
The final ERFC Pre-Retirement workshop of the school year will be held on Tuesday, April 6th from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. Click here for schedule information and a registration form. Registrants will be notified in the event of any schedule changes.
ERFC 1099-R Tax Statements for 2009
BNY Mellon is generating the ERFC 1099-R tax statements for 2009 benefit payments. BNY Mellon confirms that they will mail the ERFC 1099-R statements from their offices in Pennsylvania by January 31st. In the event you do not receive your 1099-R statement by February 16th, you may call the ERFC Finance office to request a new statement. Please note that ERFC will not have access to the file data required to replace any lost or misplaced member tax statements until mid-February. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
ERFC - A Defined Benefit Plan
ERFC is a defined benefit plan qualified under 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Funding is provided in part by employer and member contributions to the Plan; income earned through investment of the Plan's assets provides the majority of funding.
Membership
ERFC members include retirees and active Fairfax County Public Schools personnel who are employed full-time in monthly-paid educational, administrative, and support staff positions. The ERFC provides two defined benefit plan structures.
