The
DES Physical Education program's primary purpose is to
enable students in grade K-6 to develop competence in
fundamental movement skills by providing a wide variety
of developmentally appropriate movement experiences and
practice opportunities. Learning experiences are designed
to use skill themes and movement concepts to teach the
content of each learning strand. Physical fitness, rhythms,
educational gymnastics, and games/activities to practice
fundamental movement skills are fully integrated into
the curriculum. Age-appropriate fitness and wellness
concepts are included in instructional units.
