There are currently two counselors at Dranesville, Ms. Melinda Ryan (part time) and Mrs. Kathy Wilds (full time).

Elementary Counseling is different from middle and high school counseling by having more interactions with classes, groups and individual children. We do not keep formal notes on children and see children in small groups or individually by parent permission only.

We work closely with teachers to provide the Fairfax County Developmental Guidance and Counseling program for your child. We conduct classroom guidance lessons. This program focuses on the components of academic/career development and social/emotional development. We start off every school year in classes discussing Bullying/Harassment as mandated by Fairfax County Public Schools in coordination with the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) handbook. These lessons focus on providing a safe school learning and working environment for everyone.
