Dranesville holds two versions of Chess Club every year, as well as a Chess tournament. The Dragon Chess Club is for the 3rd thru 6th graders and Mini-Dragon Club is for the K thru 2nd graders. Volunteers offer mini-chess lessons and the PTA supplies the boards for an hour after school once a week for about 8 weeks, usually in the Spring. Upper grade students volunteer as tutors for the Mini-Dragon Chess Club - another example of the Character Counts program in action.
