FCPS eCART logoFCPS eCART (Electronic Curriculum Assessment Resource Tool) provides school administrators web based access to FCPS-approved curriculum, assessments, tools and resources that support K-12 teaching and learning. FCPS eCART components include: a curriculum search tool, an assessment tool, and a reporting tool. These tools are a product of the Curriculum and Assessment Initiative which began in 2006 as a collaborative effort between central departments and school-based staff members including teachers and administrators. The FCPS curriculum repository is a FCPS developed database application that houses the FCPS curriculum, test items, assessments, and resources. Content from this database is pushed to all eCART components allowing teachers to assess student learning and to access curricular resources.

NCS ABACUSxp is an instructional management system that allows FCPS to manage curriculum, student assessment, instructional resources, and student performance results.

Academy Technology Courses
OITI sponsors many courses in the FCPS Academy catalog that are intended to help teachers effectively use of the available technology in the classroom. Since technology and its application in the classroom change rapidly, it is necessary to revise these courses on a regular basis.

OITI continues to create a continuum of courses that helps teachers integrate technology into their instruction. OITI hires experienced trainers to create the course agendas, write and adapt course materials and help establish procedures for qualifying instructors.

School Based Technology Specialists Training
SBTS Management provides training and technical support for School Based Technology Specialists. Training materials developed by OITI support central initiatives and are provided to School Based Technology Specialists for turn around training in their assigned schools. Technical support is provided in coordination with other central offices.

Funds provided to the Virginia Department of Education through the No Child Left Behind Act were awarded in the form of eight regional consortium grants. ITT represents FCPS as a member of the North Technology Education Integration Region partnership and manages all aspects of the grant for FCPS. The primary goal of the grant is to provide high quality professional development for classroom technology integration. OITI works with consortium member schools as well as internal organizations to create and implement data driven staff development opportunities. The grant will provide the North TIER Consortium with up to 1 million in funding per year for five years.
