Using Databases in the Elementary Classroom

Course Description

Validates Integration Technology Standards

Participants in this course learn to design, create, and use databases with students, as well as for personal productivity. Although a database program (AppleWorks or Access) is the primary tool used in the course, online databases and their application are also explored in the classroom. Topics include strategies for organizing information into a database, locating and evaluating information within a database, and helping students assemble information in a meaningful way. Participants create at least one database for personal productivity and one (or more) curriculum-related project that utilizes a database.

Information

Successful completion validates competency in the technology integration skill area (standards 5-8).
