Course Description

Validates Integration Technology Standards

This special projects course is designed for participants who possess a fluent understanding of various technology applications and who wish to develop an integrated technology-based curriculum unit that can be used within their own educational setting. Participants explore, create, and share ideas that meet the curricular expectations for their students in preparation for the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) technology and core subject Program of Studies (POS) competency testing; create an integrated project plan utilizing technologies; and share the plan with other course participants to build a portfolio of technology-based projects that can be used across grade levels and subject areas. Participants attend only three class meetings; the other required course time as well as out-of-class activity time is spent on independent project development.

Note

Elementary software is used in this course including Mapmaker’s Toolkit, Inspiration, Kidspiration, Microsoft Office, and Appleworks. Macintosh users may also register (software is the same on both platforms).

Information

Successful completion validates competency in the technology integration skill area (standards 5-8).
