Course Description
The Internet has become an essential instructional tool in almost every subject area. This course helps teachers understand and use this tool. Participants learn how to find lesson plans, projects and other activities on the World Wide Web and how to integrate them into instruction. Other topics include using web search engines, organizing and using bookmarks/favorites, managing student use of the Internet, and using special features of the Outlook email system. Participants also learn how to create and use their own classroom web page using one of the free teacher resource sites.
Prerequisites
Participants must have a basic understanding of the operating system (Macintosh or Windows) that will be used in the class. Participants must also have a networked computer with either Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer and Outlook installed in order to complete the homework assignments.
TSIP Information
Successful completion of this course will validate the browser and email portions of Standards 1-4 of the Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel (TSIP).
