IDENTIFICATION FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE GEOGRAPHICALLY NEW TO FAIRFAX COUNTY AND HAVE PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED GIFTED SERVICES
Identification for Immediate Advanced Academic Level IV (formerly GT) Center Placement
Students must possess sufficient academic documentation to include: exceptionally high ability test results (required) and achievement test results (if available), a record of previous advanced academic or gifted services, report cards, and any other documentation that supports a need for immediate Level IV Center placement. If your child is not eligible for immediate placement, he or she may be referred for fall screening through your local school.

Establish residency
in Fairfax County. No
student may be considered until proof of residency
exists.

Compile a file of the academic information
noted above. Please make copies as the
materials will not be returned.
- Ability test results from our list:
- CogAT
- NNAT
- OLSAT
- WISC IV
- Stanford Binet
- DAS
- CAS
- Achievement test results (if available)
- Record of previous advanced academic or gifted services (if applicable)
- Report cards for the two previous years
- Other documentation

Schedule an appointment
at 703-846-8670 to submit the file.

Bring the file in person to the GT Programs
office located at 3705 Crest Drive, Annandale,
VA 22003 along with proof of residency.
Step

Within
a week a determination will be made and parents/guardians
will be notified.
- If sufficient evidence warrants immediate
placement eligible students may enter
the GT center (Level IV) as soon as the schools are
notified.
- If immediate placement is not warranted
at this time, students may be considered
at the local school for school-based GT services (Level II and III).
- Students found ineligible for immediate
placement may be also considered for future
GT center placement according to the FCPS
screening, testing, and identification timeline. Additional information regarding the screening and identification process may be found in the Parent Information Packet.
Identification for School-Based GT Services (Level II and III)
Questions regarding student eligibility or placement in the school-based program should be directed to the school principal. The principal reviews all pertinent information with the local GT screening committee and informs parents/guardians of the decision.
