The Summer Seminar
The summer seminar starts the induction program for elementary, middle school, and high school second-year teachers and is held in July or August. The seminar focuses on helping second-year teachers get off to a positive start from their first day of school in Fairfax County Public Schools.
Session topics include:
- Record keeping
- Organizational issues and assessment
- Reading and writing workshop
- Classroom management

Who Can Enroll in
Great Beginnings: Continuing
the Journey ?
All applicants for the program must meet two criteria:
- Have been offered a teaching contract with Fairfax County Public Schools
- Will begin their second year of full-time teaching OR
- Participated in a Professional Development School (PDS) or Professional Development Academy (PDA) intern program with FCPS for the previous school year
