Course Description
Technology Tools is a middle school optional course offering that will provide students with the skills necessary to operate a keyboard using proper keyboarding technique. Emphasis is on automaticity of quick finger motions and correct keystroking techniques. Students will then use these keyboarding skills to enhance their proficiency with tool software applications including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets. They will also acquire skills with presentation and electronic research applications. Assessment will be based on the student's ability to demonstrate competencies on the indicators in meeting the benchmarks under each standard.
Objectives
- Students will develop a minimal touch typing skill that demonstrates automaticity and a words per minute rate that is faster than a student’s handwriting speed.
- Students acquire a skill level that will enable them to use computer software applications as basic communication tools.
