Middle School ESOL Language Development Levels

FCPS English Proficiency Levels:

LEP Level L:  Beginning ESOL students with little or no previous schooling in their home country

LEP Level 1:    Beginning ESOL students with limited or no proficiency in English  

LEP Level 2:  Intermediate ESOL students with some proficiency in English                       

LEP Level 3/4:  Advanced ESOL students who are fairly proficient in English                                                                                 

LEP Monitor:  Students who have met criteria to exit from ESOL but continue to improve their academic English.  Their academic progress is monitored for 2 calendar years after exit.
