TSSC - /Technology Support Service Center

  • The Call Center provides phone, e-mail, fax, walk-up and limited on-site software support to all FCPS schools and offices. Once a call is received at the Call Center, the staff will resolve, refer, track or escalate that request in accordance with agreed upon business rules and service level agreements. If the call is not solved on first contact, then the Call Center will track the call until its completion.
  • TSSpec - The Technology Support Specialists (TSSpecs) provide on-site software support by rotating through their assigned grouping of schools on a regular basis. Each school and site determines the priority of what is done by the TSSpec at each site. A school or site technology point-of-contact works with the Technology Support Specialists in determining the priority of work to be done. Some examples of what the Technology Support Specialists do: troubleshoot problems with desktop operating systems and applications, assist with software upgrades, install network printers, and diagnose networking issues.

  • The Department of Information Technology, Field Services, is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of information technology infrastructure hardware for all FCPS sites. This includes computers, networks, telecommunications, life safety, and consumer electronics equipment. Our commitment to our customer is to ensure consistent system availability and minimal downtime.

Network and Systems Services

  • The Network and Systems Services (NSS) Section is the primary provider of enterprise network engineering, infrastructure analysis, telecommunications, technology installations and systems software services and support for members of the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) community. NSS is known for integrating and delivering various enterprise-wide systems and technology services that control the design and operation of the WAN, manage the design and implementation of networks in the schools, design and implementation of telephone systems, network and systems software engineering support and other key services including email, and internet access. During the summer of 2000 a desktop management group was formed to oversee the image process and provide guidelines for desktop management in FCPS.

DIT Training Services

  • IT Training Services, located at Wilton Woods Center, provides instructor-lead, hands-on technology training for FCPS personnel. All courses are for Windows computers and are held Monday-Friday during business hours (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). A variety of classes are offered featuring database, media design, web page design, server administration, and Microsoft Outlook applications. Each participant receives a training manual with related data files and a certificate of completion.
