Funds provided to the Virginia Department of Education through the No Child Left Behind Act were awarded in the form of eight regional consortium grants. ITT represents FCPS as a member of the North Technology Education Integration Region Consortium and manages all aspects of the grant for FCPS. The primary goal of the grant is to provide high quality professional development for classroom technology integration. ITT works with consortium member schools as well as internal organizations to create and implement data driven staff development opportunities. The grant will provide the North TIER Consortium with up to 1 million in funding per year for five years.
Academy Technology Courses
The Office of Instructional Technology Services/ISD (OITS) sponsors many courses in the FCPS Academy catalog that are intended to help teachers effectively use of the available technology in the classroom. Since technology and its application in the classroom change rapidly, it is necessary to revise these courses on a regular basis.
OITS continues to create a continuum of courses that helps teachers integrate technology into their instruction. OITS hires experienced trainers to create the course agendas, write and adapt course materials and help establish procedures for qualifying instructors. A partial list of the courses can be found at http://www.fcps.edu/dis/OITS/techtraining/. These courses are offered as both advertised and non-advertised courses.
